Peter & Danielle Gordon
Since marrying in 1994, it has been Pete and Danielle’s passion as a couple to see children and youth captured by the love of God – and for whole families, and in turn communities and nations to be transformed as a result. God has given them a heart to bring family restoration and hope to the orphan heart – both globally and locally.
The family has been in Uganda since early 2011. Mid 2013 they moved to live in a higher risk population and begin a new work there. The children are integral to fulfilling the ministry to which God has called them through helping further His kingdom and strengthen the team.
A key question that motivates their ministry is – what would you do if you knew families were placing their children in orphanages because they had no other option?
Imuka exists to protect and strengthen families in crisis – sharing hope through the gospel of Jesus and providing them with a way to stay together, rebuild their lives and see hope restored.
The practical outworking of this vision to prevent orphans while preserving families in partnership with the local community include:
- Crisis intervention: provision of emergency medical care, housing and nutritional support – working towards long term sustainability through training and short term solutions
- Training: parenting, health and nutrition classes
- Economic Development: small business training, start up grants, business mentoring and savings groups
- Discipleship: group bible studies, home visits and linking in with local churchesEarly Learning Program: safe care in a creative learning environment for 0 – 7 year olds – enabling their caregivers to undertake training
